Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Partners with the County of Marin to Improve Workforce Health

In 2011, the County of Marin partnered with Kaiser Permanente and the San Rafael Medical Center to design a HealthWorks Wellness program to help the County's older workforce -- with an average age of close to 49 -- be more active. The program needed to be straightforward and easy, and attractive to a wide range of employees.

Because employees spend eight hours a day at work, it's a good place to help them move along the path to wellness, says Janet Franklin, Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Service Director, Health Promotion and a San Rafael Chamber Leadership Graduate. Implementing something as basic as a walking program can have a big impact on a company's bottom line, while building morale and teamwork.
