DESCRIPTION:Terra Linda's free Concert on the Corner series presents world-renowned Brazilian guitarist Alessandro Penezzi\, Bay Area flutist Jane Lenoir\, and Sao Paolo percussionist Clarice Cast. \n\n\n\nFree Event - Easy Parking - Family Friendly - Bring a Picnic - Spacious Lawn\n\n\n\nAbout the Professional Musicians:\nConsidered one of the great Brazilian guitarists of his generation\, composer\, arranger\, and guitarist Alessandro Penezzi was born in Piracicaba\, S o Paulo\, Brazil in February 1974. He began his musical studies at seven years old. A multiinstrumentalist\, Alessandro plays 7-string guitar\, tenor guitar\, cavaquinho\, mandolin and flute. His teachers include Carlos Coimbra\, Jair T. de Paula\, S rgio Belluco\, and Jo o Dias Carrasqueira.\n\nAlessandro has recorded over 20 albums and has performed with many of the great Brazilian musicians\, including Yamand  Costa\, Carlos Poyares\, Toninho Ferragutti\, Oswaldinho do Acordeon\, La rcio de Freitas\, Ca to Marcondes\, Arismar do Esp rito Santo\, Maur cio Carrilho\, Pedro Amorim\, Joel Nascimento\, Conjunto Epoque de Ouro\, Rog rio Caetano\, Caio Marcio\, Alexandre Ribeiro and Nailor Proveta. He has taught at California Brazil Camp since 2010. He is building a following in the US as one of the great virtuosos and composers in the Brazilian Popular Music genre in the world today. He resides in S o Paulo\, and tours regularly to Europe and Africa.\n\nIn 2017\, the great North American flutist Jane Lenoir and Penezzi released an album\, performing only Penezzi's music.\n\n\n\n \n\nFlutist Jane Lenoir grew up in Tampa\, Florida in a family of professional musicians\, and left in her teens to study at Interlochen Arts Academy and later Oberlin College Conservatory. Trained classically and comfortable in many genres\, she has performed with symphony orchestras\,  new music ensembles\, chamber and early music groups\, as well as jazz\, Latin and Brazilian groups.\n\nIn 2010 she formed the Berkeley Choro Ensemble\, and in 2013 she produced the first Berkeley Festival of Choro\, now an annual event\, at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. She has recorded with the Seattle Group for New Music\, Matiz Ensemble\, as well as Brazilian artists Paulo Sergio Santos\, Rog rio Souza\, Caio Marcio Dos Santos\, Netinho Albuquerque\, and Alessandro Penezzi.\n\nFounder of the Berkeley Choro Ensemble and Co-Director of the Berkeley Festival of Choro\, her CD "Jane Lenoir Plays Penezzi\," featuring the music and participation of guitarist Alessandro Penezzi\, was released in August\, 2017. Jane has taught many workshops in Brazilian music and led choro jams ("rodas de choro") at the National Flute Association\, Sacramento Flute Club\, Suzuki Association National Convention\, Sonoma State University\, UC Berkeley and UC Davis and more.\n\n\n\n \n\nClarice Cast is a multi-percussionist from S o Paulo\, Brazil. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Northern Illinois University and a Masters in World Percussion from the California Institute of the Arts. She is an active performer\, recording artist\, and composer in Los Angeles\, CA and is a regular clinician at colleges\, universities\, and percussion festivals\, including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2014.\n\nYou can hear Clarice on the sophisticated Lado B Brazilian Project's debut album\, which was nominated during the 58th Grammy Awards in "Best Arrangement Instruments & Vocals." She is heavily influenced by her native Brazilian culture\, which is her driving force to learn\, perform\, write\, and teach these styles.\n\nClarice is Viver Brasil's music director\, Los Angeles' premier Afro-Brazilian dance company.
