    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Marin Community Clinics Appoints Interim CEO

September 20, 2024 (Novato). The Marin Community Clinics (MCC) Board of Directors today announced that Kathie Powell (resident of Petaluma), an experienced healthcare leader and former CEO of Petaluma Health Center, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective September 20.

Powell succeeds Farhan Fadoo, MD, MS, MSHI, who recently resigned from his role as CEO to pursue a new opportunity. “Our thanks to Dr. Fadoo, who has led MCC for close to a year,” said Nelson Branco, MD, Chair of the MCC Board of Directors. “We wish him well in his new endeavors.”

I am pleased to report that, with Kathie Powell joining MCC as Interim CEO, we have ensured a timely and smooth transition,” explained Dr. Branco.

Powell brings deep knowledge of community clinics/familiarity with MCC
Powell, who recently retired as the long-term CEO of Petaluma Health Center (PHC) is a seasoned community clinic executive and former leader at PHC’s multi-site, comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
“We are fortunate to have Kathie on our team while we recruit for a permanent CEO,” reported Dr. Branco, “She not only brings expertise in leading organizations very similar to MCC, but also is a strong advocate for underserved populations and has a reputation for building collaborative community relationships. An added bonus is that through a regional consortium and other activities, she is very familiar with MCC.”

Prior to her position at PHC, Powell served as the CEO of an FQHC in Pennsylvania. She has also served as a community hospital administrator and healthcare consultant. Powell holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Texas Women’s University and a Master’s Degree from Southern Methodist University, where she focused on International Community Health Planning.

    Recruitment for permanent CEO underway
According to Dr Branco, a national search to recruit a permanent CEO will soon be underway. “Recruitment at this level may take some time,” he explained, “so we are particularly pleased to have someone of Kathie’s caliber to guide MCC during this interim period.”
