Some Background on Jeff Burkhart and James Bond:
“Shaken not stirred we have all heard the saying. It is part of Ian Fleming’s super spy James Bond’s persona. Bond has ordered martinis both “shaken not stirred” and “stirred not shaken” in the movies.
            Join Jeff Burkhart (the Marin IJ’s Barfly columnist) on Tuesday September 22 for his thoughts on the matter, a few of his Bond related stories, a proper “shaken not stirred” martini, and a special screening of the original 1967 James Bond movie “Casino Royale” starring David Niven, Ursula Andress,  Daliah Lavi and Terence Cooper, all as James Bond.
            As an added bonus there will be special screening of “Testing, 1, 2, 3” the short film by local director Robin Lee based on a story from Jeff’s first book “Twenty Years Behind Bars; the spirited adventures of a real bartender.” Copies of that book, and its sequel “Twenty Years Behind Bars Volume II: Parole Denied” will be also available at the event.
            Jeff Burkhart is both an award-winning journalist and an award-winning bartender. His popular Barfly column was voted best column in California in 2014 (California Newspaper Publishers Association), and he was also recently (2020) voted “Best Media Personality: Radio, TV, Print” by the readers of the Pacific Sun.
