RCP Tiburon Mile
The 16th Annual RCP Tiburon Mile Open Water Swim will be held on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 at 9 am. This is the world’s most competitive open water swim with International Olympic and World Champion swimmers competing for cash & prizes! Starting at Angel Island and swimming their way through the Raccoon Straight in the San Francisco Bay, swimmers will finish the one nautical mile swim on the shores of Tiburon at Sam’s Anchor Café.
Hundreds of swimmers and spectators will gather in Tiburon for this annual event which has raised over $1.4 million for charities since its inception in 1999. This year our proceeds will go to support the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. Following the swim, athletes from around the world and members from the local community will enjoy a catered lunch from a variety of outstanding Marin restaurants including Sol Food, Milano's and Il Davide, and music from The Cole Tate Band.
The list of Elite athletes this year includes Brooke Bennett, USA 3X Olympic Gold Medalist; Keri-anne Payne, Great Britain Olympic Silver Medalist and 2X FINA World Champion; Michael Sheil, Australian open water swimmer; Evgeny Bezruchenko, Russian World Champion; Richard Weinberger, Canadian 2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist; David Carey, Great Britain FINA and Olympic competitor, Dan O’Connor USA open water swimmer; and Becca Mann, USA FINA and Olympic competitor.
