What:             Described as a “revelatory troupe” by the New York Times, celebrated guitar virtuoso PACO PEÑA and his extraordinary Flamenco Dance Company will showcase their acclaimed new show Flamenco Vivo! Flamenco Vivo! embodies the passion, grace and fire that audiences have come to expect from this exciting art form.  It is a musical journey that displays the highest level of modern flamenco, highlighting the rhythmic complexities of its latest variations of dance, song and guitar.  Peña explores the trance-inducing tribal roots of flamenco, from the alboreá to the razor-sharp complexity of the bulería – all while captivating the audience with dramatic compositions, fantastic guitar work and fiery dancers.
Paco Peña embodies both authenticity and innovation in flamenco. Born in the Andalucian city of Cordoba, Peña began learning guitar from his brother at the age of six and made his first professional appearance at the age of 12. As a guitarist, composer, dramatist, producer and artistic mentor he has transformed perceptions of this archetypal Spanish art form. Peña leads a company featuring a stellar cast of guitarists, percussionists, vocalists and three dancers – the commanding Ramón Martinez, Charo Espino, “who can distill a whole dance tradition through the eloquence of her hands” (The Guardian UK), Venezuela’s Daniella Tugues, principal dancer and co-choreographer with Las Lizarraga Dance  Company.
