Louise Boyd's 131st Birthday Party at Historic Elks Lodge/Boyd Mansion!
Join us for a Birthday Party celebration in honor of Louise A. Boyd's 131st birthday at the historic Boyd Mansion, now the San Rafael Elks Lodge. Elks and the Marin History Museum are celebrating together!
4:00 pm -The party starts on beautiful Magnolia Terrace, with live music by Costal Wreckage, Birthday Cake, high tea and cash bar, featuring Louise Boyd's specialty cocktail "Veslakari", along with other choices.
6:00 pm - Mansion and grounds tour led by historian and docent Marcie Miller.
Louise Arner Boyd (1887-1972) was an American explorer of the Arctic Ocean region (1920's-40's), and the first woman to fly over the North Pole. She was born into a wealthy San Rafael family and inherited their fortune and home in 1920, spending the next few years traveling in Europe before beginning her Arctic expeditions.Date and Time
