Film Screening: Child of Giants: My Journey with Maynard Dixon & Dorothea Lange

Join MHM for Tom Ropelewski’s captivating documentary Child of Giants: My Journey with Maynard Dixon & Dorothea Lange. Daniel Rhodes Dixon was the elder son of two icons of the American art world, photographer Dorothea Lange and painter of the Southwest Maynard Dixon. 

This intimate film offers a glimpse into the emotional story of Maynard Dixon and Dorothea Lange's eldest son, Daniel Dixon, and his life of growing up among two of the greatest artists of the 20th century. 

Ropelewski, whose film credits include Look Who's Talking Now and The Next Big Thing, is married to screenwriter Leslie Dixon (Mrs. Doubtfire and Hairspray), a granddaughter of Maynard Dixon and Dorothea Lange. This screening coincides with MHM’s current exhibition, Dorothea Lange: At Steep Ravine, which is now on display at MHM’s History Center.
