DESCRIPTION:PRESS RELEASE :  May 1\, 2013\n\nCHOOSING THE FUTURE WE WANT\n\n\n\nA Public Forum about "Plan Bay Area" and How It Will Affect Marin\n\nThursday\, May 9\, 7-9 pm\, Angelico Hall\, Dominican University\n\n\n\nFive Marin nonprofits with different missions including environment\, affordable housing\, sustainability and social responsibility have come together to create\n\n\n\nCHOOSING THE FUTURE WE WANT: PLAN BAY AREA - WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR MARIN?  an informational forum on May 9 at Dominican University  \n\n\n\nThe forum will explore what Plan Bay Area is\, how the public can shape it\, and how its adoption may affect Marin and the region. Presentations will inform and encourage a thoughtful community conversation about environmental\, equity\, and climate solutions for Marin and the Bay Area. The period\, program will also provide information on how to make effective comments on the Plan during the comment which ends on May 16.\n\n\n\nPresentations include:\n\nWhat is 'Plan Bay Area'? Linda Jackson\, Planning Manager\, Transportation Authority of  Marin\n\nWhat does it mean for housing and equity in Marin?  Chantel L. Walker\, Social Equity Policy & Programs Coordinator\, Marin Community Development Agency\n\nWhat does it mean for climate action in Marin? Michele Rodriguez\, Former Principal Planner\, 2007 Marin Countywide Plan\n\nWhat does it mean for Marin's environment? Marge Macris\, Co-Chair\, Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative\n\nMarin traditions & models for transit-oriented communities\, David Edmondson\, Author\, The Greater Marin\n\n\n\nSupervisor Katie Rice\, Marin's representative to ABAG (Association of Bay Area Governments) will moderate the program and Q+A. There will also be an open mic period for public comment\n\n\n\nAll are invited. A $5 - $10 donation is requested to defray event costs (no one turned away for lack of funds).\n\nThe event will be scheduled for later broadcast on MarinTV.\n\nThe "Choosing the Future We Want" planning partners are:  Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative (MEHC)\, Sustainable Marin\, Sustainable San Rafael\, Marin Conservation League\, and the League of Women Voters of Marin.
